Hi,
according to the error message, you have a "permission denied" error. Please check on operating system level that the file is readable for the os-user who runs the ASE process (e.g. syb<sid>).
Best regards,
Juergen

Hi Johan,
finally we scheduled a downtime interval and we decided to perform a restart of DB and SAP system. After the restarting activity, DB functionalities seem to come back to work, now the automated backups of transaction logs are successfully performed and all the DB sleeping processes are gone away. So far so good as for now.
For the future, we suppose trying to apply latest SP to Sybase ASE RDBMS so as to minimize the need of restarting SAP production environment.
Thanks all for support and suggestions,
ciao
Marco
Good news figured a restart would resolve this
Have a lovely weekend and glad your problem is gone.
Hi Nicolas,
Sorry for late reply, Our IDES system was installed by my senior colleague and right now he is working for another company. I have put a mail to him regarding the old system ID and number if is available with him. However he hasnt replied yet. Is there any other way we can solve this.
Thanks&Regards,
Adarsh
Hi,
If you don't get detail from him you will have to redo your system copy probably.
Kind Regards,
Johan
Hi Nicolas,
By this reply, you mean that we have to sytem copy from existing IDES system to another new IDES system and provide the system ID details of current IDES system in service market place to get migration key??
Thanks&Regards,
Adarsh
Hi,
I am saying your IDES system is already a system copy from another source system.
Kind Regards,
Johan
Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for the clarification. Also i would want to know what if this was a fresh installation of IDES. I just asked because i am planning to do a new IDES installation and will i get the same error there also?
Thanks&Regards,
Adarsh
Hi,
A clean install wont need migration key from a source system as it is installed with its own secure storage key which will be given to you by the sapinstaller at some point during the installation.
Regards,
Johan
Hi Nicolas,
I will definetely try and get back to you.
Thanks&Regards,
Adarsh
Hi Maria,
I have managed to pass this step on Windows 2008 r2 by installing a simple file "microsoft c++ redistributable 2008 for X64". I have checked all the logs and finally got it and completed installation. Very thankful for your response.
Best Regards,
Amarnath
Dear johan,

Dear Mr Soumah
I assume you are referring to what is available on other DB platforms as MCOD - where SAP databases for multiple SAP systems are created inside one database server .
This feature is not available for SAP on ASE.
I am not aware that MCOD is planned to be supported on ASE at any time in the furture .

Hello Steve,
Just to complete what has already been said , this is documented in SAP Note 1554717 - SYB: Planning information for SAP on ASE:
=============================
MCOD is not supported for SAP solutions on SAP (Sybase) ASE. The general support and maintenance for the SAP One Server 2.0 (MCOD) installation process has ended.

Yes, your understanding is correct.

Cris
And btw, you do have a MCOD
There is not such of "schema" concept in SQL Server and ASE, this is more specific to Oracle.
In SQL Server and ASE we talk about one database server (dataserver) and several databases.
Cris
O.K,
Thanks a lots for your answers !
Best regards,
Steve.
I think the closest literal translation used loosely would be to say oracle schema is a database within the dataserver
Hi,
Lets not forget this recently added doc by Anne SAP Applications on SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise - Best Practices for Migration and Runtime link:
Also Oracle to SAP Sybase ASE Migration Guide link :
The latter falls in the custom area but will give you perhaps some hints also.
Hope this helps along with the important links from Victoria.

Johan
