Hi Ie Van,

Yes. Check this note: 1806601 - SYB: Media list for installations based on NW 7.0 incl. EHPs.

I used the media software:

Let me know if you solve your problem too.

Mark,

thank you for the hint! You give me the right direction.

I installed only the binaries via setup.bin with response file ( all server with false )

and data- and backupserver with resourcefile.

It works like a charme!

Mark,

Many thanks for the detailed insight, observations and suggestions.

After hashing this out in the www.isug.com SIGs, continuing the discussion here, performing a few tests and thinking it over, I opted for the option 1. Cleaning the data before loading it. The logical option.

I kept it simple. I identified the ofending file with vi and replaced the "Control-M" characters with "".

So, I am good now. Thank you very much for your help.

Mark,

Well, I thought I had solved the problem, and almost there, but not quite.

I extracted the data from the table, after removing the "Control-M" characters from the file and there are still a bunch of spaces after the email address in each row in spite of using RTRIM. Here´s the query:

USE test

GO

SELECT LTRIM(RTRIM(a)) FROM xx

GO

You can see that in spite of the LTRIM(RTRIM()) I still have the blanks in there from the Hex Editor I used. See the snapshot of my desktop.

Should I call in SAP and report a bug in in RTRIM? I can go in vi and remove them from there, but gee, RTRIM should have done the job right?

Thank you for your input.

Regards,

Jean-Pierre

How are you extracting the data?

If you are using isql, isql is padding the columns with spaces so that they line up because ISQL wants the output to be pretty.

But bcp doesn't care about pretty.

Try this:

CREATE VIEW myview as SELECT LTRIM(RTRIM(a)) FROM xx

Then bcp out from myview.  Do you still see the spaces?

In previous posts you've proven that excess blanks have been removed from the data (eg: pipe delimited output shows no blanks between data and pipes; convert(varbinary(),) shows no trailing blanks).

Your latest attachment shows you're looking for blanks in an output file that's been populated with data from the table, ie, you're not showing that there are blanks in the actual database fields ... so you probably introduced the blanks when you created that output file.

Hi Ajitabh,

From the  error message

NW_ABAP_OneHost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_Onehost_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|onehost|0|NW_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|system|0|NW_SAPHostAgent|ind|ind|ind|ind|hostagent|0|createAccounts was executed with status ERROR ( Last error reported by the step: Invalid password. DIAGNOSIS: The password you specified for user 'sap\sapadm' is wrong. SOLUTION: Enter the correct password.).

Please ensure you are doing the following

1) Entering correct password as per the guidelines appearing on the sapinst screen

2) Password does not contain any special characters

I had faced a similar issue and was resolved by putting password without any special characters.

Hope this helps.

Dear Fomin,

Please review the SAP note on trobles shootgin DBACOCKPIT issues :

SAP Note No. 1605680     SYB: Troubleshoot the setup of the DBA Cockpit on Sybase ASE

Particularly install the latest version of SAP note  1619967 for SAP Basis 7.31 ot obtain all the latest fixes for DBACOCKPIT.

Also, please check the ODBC driver version you  use and the SAP DBSL library version.

ODBC driver should be 15.7.0.508 at the latest DBSL pl.

(compare SAP note  1812590 - which I think may apply)

Hello,

Are you trying to connect to the ASE instance on the SAP Server using Sybase Central on your laptop? Please clarify the setup.

Can you telnet to port 4901 on the server from your laptop? If not, that might indicate something blocking access to this port.

Kindest regards, Wilbert

Dear Mr.Wilbert

Yes, I'm using SQL Anywhere with Sybase Central on my laptop, connect ASE instance on the SAP server.

I test telnet with 4901 that work.

Thanks and regards

Hello,

I would guess that the problem is that you're connection to an ASE instance and not a SQL Anywhere instance. The driver for SQL Anywhere isn't able to connect to the ASE instance. I guess you should use the ASE driver to connect instead of the SQL Anywhere driver.

Is there a different option in Sybase Central for ASE (something like "connect to an ASE database")?

Please post the entire error message you get.

Kindest regards, Wilbert

How to start and stop SAP in command line(WIN)

$

Good afternoon, colleagues.

Tell me how I can start / stop SAP from the command line? I know that you can start like that

E:\usr\sap\TST\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\sapstart.exe name=TST nr=00 sapdiahost=test

, but in this case, the sap runs without a profile that is unacceptable.

With a stop seems to be clear, is performed in the

E:\usr\sap\TST\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\stopsap.exe name=TST nr=00 sapdiahost=test

if that is not correct me.

Hello Stepan,

In Unix/Linux, commands are as follows:

startsap , stopsap - complete

stopsap r3, startsap r3 - instance only

you must be logged as <SID>adm.

Should be alike in Windows.

Regards

George Solc
