Re: How to start and stop SAP in command line(WIN)

Strange, but I stopsap with any parameters gives a message here

------------------------------------------------------------

  USAGE: STOPSAP.EXE name=<SID> nr=<SYSNR> SAPDIAHOST=<host>

  FURTHER INFORMATION:

    - The following executables must be in the same directory:

      sapsrvkill.exe

      sapntwaitforhalt.exe

------------------------------------------------------------

A startup is run only so

sapstart r3

and reports

sapstart=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

sapstart=>sapparam: SAPSYSTEMNAME neither in Profile nor in Commandline

SAPSTART finished successfully on Test__00.

And that means No Profile used, that he does not start using a profile?

If you execute sapstart under user <SID>adm, it will use profile values, since the user has environment parameters set.

Dear Mr.Wilbert

I can't find sybase central on SAP system. I also installed sybase central on SAP system. But I have a problem about plug-in on sybase central.

Which version of sysbase central is compatible with SAP Sybase 15.0 ?

I used dbisql tool that work.

Thanks and regards

Hello,

Sybase Central has vanished from the installation somewhere around version 15.7.0.030. The directory is still there (%SYBASE%\shared\Sybase Central 6.0.0), but there are no binaries in it anymore.

Kindest regards, Wilbert

Managed to solve the problem. To start the instance with a specific profile, run the command:

startsap sapstart.exe name=TST nr=00 sapdiahost=test pf=E:\usr\sap\TST\SYS\profile\TST_DVEBMGS00_Test

And in order to stop the SAP instance to execute a command like this:

stopsap name=TST nr=00 sapdiahost=test

Thank you all for your help! =)

Hi Jithin,

You can look at the startup guide from the following link to get you started.

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-29524

The location of the installation document for ERP EHP5 can be found on the SMP

SAP Service Marketplace -> SAP ERP 6.0 ->SAP enhancement packages for ERP 6.0 -> Enhancement pacakge 5* for SAP ERP 6.0 -> Installing SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5* -> SAP Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise.

Hope this helps.

Re: jConnect 5.5 (jconn2.jar) with ASE 15.7 or ASA 16?

Henry,

Just for a clarifying point regarding the JDBC driver (in this case the jConnect 5.5 driver), the driver is expected to work properly against ASE versions moving forward as long as they support/use TDS for communications, which of course they do.

Please keep in mind that new features/capabilities of the ASE may not be available to the older driver.  You do not need to worry about your JDBC metadata on the ASE as the MeataData information on the ASE has backward compatible stored information as part fo the sp_mda execution.

As Stefan pointed out, the 5.5 driver is End-Of-Life and has been for quite some time, as is the 6.05 driver.  The current driver is the 7.07 driver.  But older versions of the jConnect driver are expected to function normally against the newer ASEs, although no testing or certifications were or will be performed due to the status of the driver.

Cheers,

-Ken

Re: Sybase Support - What is SAP plans for its future?

$

Here is my experience with being migrated from Sybase Support to SAP Support.  This was my actual experience.  Please improve this for future migrations.

1)  All of my users under the Sybase support account were migrated to SAP, but put into a "deleted" S-User ID status.  An S-User ID is the impossible to remember string of numbers that is your "user name" for login purposes.  We are all just a number.

2) We were alerted of the migration, only by logging into the Sybase support site (such as case-express).

3) I have to call the support number to get our new company number.

4) Our email domain was not tied to the new company number, so upon requesting an S-User ID for the company number, it gives an error that the email domain is not assigned to this company number.

5) #1 above causes you to not be able to request an S-User ID.  Well, you can request it, you will just never receive an email with your S-User ID.

6) #1 also disallows you from resetting your password, stating that you don't have an S-User ID assigned for this company

7) #6 might prompt you to request a new S-User ID, in which case, the system would respond that you already have an S-User ID

8) The above requires another phone call to SAP to "un-delete" your account. They will direct you to contact your company's "Super Administrator", who will be a person who does not work at your company, to fix your problem.  A message will be created to have your S-User ID un-deleted, as the person you talk to will not be able to do this.

9)  You finally get logged in, after you are notified that your S-User ID has been "un-deleted".  You are also informed that you are now a "Super Administrator", since the other "Super Administrator" doesn't exist.

10) Your co-workers all experience the above issues.  They call in to have their account "un-deleted", but instead of fixing it, they are directed to the new "Super Administrator", aka "you".  You have no idea how to fix their problem, as you just barely got logged into the site, after entering your password on every page that you go to, possibly 3+ times per page.

11) You eventually find out how to set up a single sign-on certificate for the site, so you can now click "ok" rather than entering your impossible to remember S-UserID and password at every click.

12)  With 2 days left to be able to use case-express, no tickets are showing up as having been migrated to SAP.

Re: Sybase ASE DB Backup Configuration Issue

Hi Surajit,

I think you used wrong parameter name, the correct parameter name should be "enforce dump configuration".

No such a parameter "enable dump configuration" existing in Sybase ASE 15.7.0.021 and higher versions, the SAP Note 1588316 made a mistake on this parameter name, sorry! We will correct it as soon as possible.

Please try this command:

sp_configure "enforce dump configuration" , 1

go

Hello Li-fang,

I also thought so. Hence I asked the same parameter ( Enforce Dump Configuration ) in my initial post. I will try this parameter and then trigger a backup to see if it works. Will let all know. Many Thanks.

Do let me know in case you think I am doing it wrong.

Hello

use <database>

should be in a separate batch, so an extra go is required :

use ABC

go

sp_configure "enable dump configuration", 1

go

Best Regards,

Luc.
